appearance
Morgrim is a ghastly sight, with his body reduced to a skeletal figure wrapped in decayed pirate regalia. His once majestic captain’s coat is now tattered and encrusted with barnacles and seaweed. Rusted chains hang from his skeletal form, still shackled to parts of the ship’s wreckage. His eyes glow faintly with an eerie green light, and his bones are stained dark with the touch of the ocean’s depths. His skeletal hands still clutch his barnacle-covered cutlass, as though ready for battle at any moment, and his once grand tricorn hat remains perched atop his skull, now ragged and torn.
personality
Stubborn and obsessed, Morgrim's fierce attachment to his ship has driven him mad over the centuries. His undying loyalty to the Abyssal Fang and his lost crew consumes his every thought. He is manipulative, calculating, and willing to do anything to restore the wreck and sail once more. Despite his decaying form, his pride as a pirate captain remains intact, and he commands with an iron will. He is deeply resentful of the living, especially sailors and pirates who dare venture near his sunken domain, seeing them as interlopers. However, there is a tragic side to his madness—he longs for the open seas but knows he can never truly return.
backstory
Captain Morgrim Dredge was once a feared pirate, sailing the seas aboard The Abyssal Fang, a vessel as notorious as its captain. Morgrim’s love for his ship and his life of piracy was so intense that he valued it above all else, even his crew. His obsession led him to reckless decisions, one of which brought his ship into a terrible storm. The Abyssal Fang was torn apart and sunk to the ocean floor, where Morgrim and his crew met their demise. Yet, even as the icy grip of death took him, Morgrim refused to abandon his ship. His fierce attachment to the Fang defied death itself, and his soul clung to the wreckage. The ocean answered his madness, and he rose again as an undead, cursed to remain with the shattered remnants of his once-proud ship. His crew, now ghostly shades of their former selves, remain bound to him, unable to find rest.
