Lee Jonas has an introverted personality, although he was charismatic and functioned well in social settings. He was a man of few words and had few people he called friends. The friends he had were colleagues he had grown close to in the line of duty. He kept most people at arm's length, until he knew them for a while and trusted them.

The son of Robert Jonas and Hera, queen of the gods, Lee, was born in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, in 2008. An only child, he wished that he had siblings, idealizing what kind of relationship he would have with a younger brother. The Jonas family identified as Catholic, but they would only attend Mass on Christmas and Easter. He eventually found his way to Camp Half-Blood with the help of his satyr protector.
