Fantasy Asset Collection. Version 0.2

A ton of generic fantasy assets for you to pick through. Take what you want, leave what you don't.

Author's Note: Alright, so, this is basically just a collection of various generic fantasy assets. Maybe you don't want to build something from scratch? Or maybe you just want some base templates you can adjust? Or even just looking for inspiration? Feel free to look and take whatever you'd like. Just consider this a one stop shop for your fantasy setting needs. Tags! Tags are what I'm going to be using to make sorting through this mess a little easier. A tag will be one letter between two brackets. Put that in the search bar, and poof! Easy to narrow things down to what you're interested in. For classes, here are the tags. (C) = Combat class (M) = Magic user class (N) = Non-Combat class Each class can have multiple tags. For instance, an enchanter would be a (M) (N) class. A pyromancer would be a (C) (M) class. You can also have what appear to be a contradictory set of tags. For instance, a healer might have all three tags, (C) (M) (N), because depending on how you play them, they could be used as a combat focused class, or a non-combat focused class. If you're focusing on healing and all that nice stuff, (N). If you are doing not so nice things, like shutting off someone's nervous system or forcing their body to rapidly grow tumours.... well, that's a (C). Tags will always be in alphabetical order with a space between them. So a combat magic user will always be a (C) (M), and never an (M)(C). UPDATE: Version 0.2 I added some new races, and replaced the symbols for all of the 129 classes with new, cleaner looking images reminiscent of the default classes. I also added the library! What is the library you ask? Simply a building on the world map that will be containing all of the lore for every aspect of the world. It's totally optional, just thought it might be a good thing to have. The library is broken up into sections, then shelves holding POI scrolls with the lore inside.

Scroll of Drow I

Scroll of Drow I

The Drow are believed to be the result of a pact made between a High Elf long ago and the spirit of shadows. Although determining what is legend and what is fact is an impossible task, it is believed that all Drow are descendents of that High Elf. The Drow believe that this common ancestor pledged his very being to the shadows in return for the strength to take revenge on a noble who had killed the woman they loved. The High Elves on the other hand tell the story a little differently, and that the first Drow was simply a man with a ln insatiable greed for power. Whatever the truth may be, the descendants of the first Drow still carry the mark of shadows, their ebony skin and ash white hair making them easily distinguishable from their pale High Elf counterparts. Although the Drow share a strong connection to magic, their abilities manafest in only one form, the ability to control shadows, and to silence sound.

Due to their abilities, the Drow have a not completely undeserved reputation for thievery and deceit. However, what one race would call thievery, the Drow call redistribution of hoarded wealth. In fact, despite their sticky fingers the Drow have a very strict moral code, which is to only steal from those who hoard and misuse their wealth. It is this belief in equality that has lead to Drow being quite generous, often sharing what they consider to be excess wealth with those less fortunate than themselves. That isn't to say they have no taste for the finer things... but after they have had what they believe to be their fill of good food and drink, they often simply give the rest away to whatever worthy cause crosses their path next. The Drow are also one of the more tolerant races, the only race they often dislike being the High Elves, and mainly due to how the High Elves have treated them historically.

A rare trait the Drow possess is the ability to reproduce with any other humanoid race, with the result of that union always being a full blooded Drow. This, combined with their acceptance of other races, has lead to the reputation of Drow as being rather permisquous, this reputation not aided by the fact that the Drow are far less sexually repressed than other races.

Scroll of Ghoul I

Scroll of Ghoul I

The Ghoul are often regarded not as a race, but rather as a creature. This is due to the fact that they, in their most common and natural state, are no more intelligent than wild dogs. They roam the forests at night, feeding on small animals and, if they can manage it, humans. They prefer their prey fresh, but they are not above digging up graves, prying open coffins, and eating rotten flesh. If this were the limit of the Ghouls capability it very much would be classified as nothing more than a beast. However, if a ghoul feeds on human flesh frequently, it begins to take on a more human like appearance, and even gains human level intelligence. It is at this point that the ghoul is no longer considered rabid, and has become something far more dangerous. Able to blend in with its favourite prey, the Ghoul can walk among them, masquerading as a normal individual, and only displaying its true self when it is far too late to run away.

Scroll of Ghoul II

Ghouls are predominantly binge eaters, consuming large amounts of flesh in one sitting and allowing it to digest over time. A ghoul can store up to 15 pounds of flesh in its stomach, and when fully functioning burns through about one pound of that flesh per day. Rabid ghouls can go much longer without feeding, burning through half the amount, and down to a quarter if in low activity. Most Ghouls are rather desensitized to violence and death. They retain their memories from when they were rabid, and usually have no issue killing and consuming humans. That said, on rare occasions ghouls have been known to develop a conscience along with their heightened intelligence. This results in the Ghoul having to balance their new sense of morality with their need to continue consuming human flesh. If they obtain from eating humans, the Ghoul will only end up returning to its rabid state, and once more be free of its conscience to feed on human flesh without guilt.

For those Ghouls they are faced with one of three options. They can scavenge for human flesh from those who died of natural causes (although the meat must be fairly fresh to imbue the ghoul with intelligence), it can choose to hunt for prey it considers morally acceptable to consume, or, if it cannot contend with eating human flesh and does not wish to return to its rabid state, it may take its own life. Legend has it that there are two ways a Ghoul can come into being. One way is that a Ghoul can be made when a human man willingly consumes the flesh of another human for an extended period of time. This is theorized to be how the first Ghouls came into being. The second way is through sexual reproduction. Only male Ghouls have been documented to exist, so the only way for a ghoul to reproduce is to impregnate a human woman, keeping them alive for the three months necessary for the fetus to mature. At which point the newly formed Ghoul will eat its way out of its mother.

The Ghouls mother will then be its sole source of food for the coming weeks, during which time the Ghoul develops rapidly, reaching the size of an 8 year old human child by the time it has sucked the last of the marrow from its mothers bones. At this point the young Ghoul is capable of hunting for itself, catching small prey until it grows to its full size.

Scroll of High Elves I

Scroll of High Elves I

High Elves (or as they often refer to themselves, Pure Elves) are the base race which all other elves (Drow, Wood Elf) branch off of. They are a pure lineage that goes back countless generations. It is this perceived purity that causes them to believe they are superior to all other kinds of elves, with the "half breeds" being one step above the other non elf races. That said, High Elves tend to be hostile towards the other Elven races, seeing them as "blood traitors". High Elves have a very strong connection to the magical world, with all elves of their race possessing at least SOME magical ability (taking the form of 1 cantrip). This ability manefests at puberty and is seen as a milestone in every High Elf's life. This ability will often reflect the individual elf's personality.

Despite their superiority complex, High Elves can be gracious hosts, and even quite generous... it all depends on if the High Elf in question views lesser races as abominations, or simply as those less fortunate, and to be pitied for their inferiority. More polite High Elves will never mention this belief in mixed company, seeing it as rude to point out someone's obvious disability. Being as proud of themselves as they are, High Elves tend to enjoy showing off their culture to foreigners, welcoming tourists, while politely discouraging them from over staying their welcome.

Scroll of Humans II

Due to their forceful treatment of magic, more attuned races view human spell casters who did not gain their abilities through pacts as crude and somewhat offensive. Wood elves in particular view human spell casters to be violating the natural order, imposing their will on nature and disrupting it in a manner similar to clear cutting a forest for building materials. Most other races with innate magical abilities simply view it as distasteful.

Scroll of Humans, I

Scroll of Humans, I

"Humanity are the largest race, and the most wide spread. Their desire to claim land and wealth, as well as their innate desire to explore the unknown, have resulted in them controlling the largest amount of land out of all of the known races. This, combined with their penitent to breed like rabbits, have also lead them to be the largest race by population as well. However, the humans are not united like the High Elves are. They are divided amongst many kingdoms, and are often at each others throats just as often as they are the other races. This tribal nature and inability to cooperate has resulted in humans being unable to simply conquer the smaller races (as they have attempted to do on many occasions). Humans lack an innate connection to magic, meaning they cannot control magic delicately, but must force it to bend to their will. The exception to this being humans that gained their magical abilities through pacts made with more powerful beings.

Scroll of Wood Elves I

Scroll of Wood Elves I

Wood Elf is the term given to elves who are half Human, half High Elf. Due to their mixed race origin, Wood Elves found themselves shunned by both High Elf and Human society. So, they ventured into the untamed woods, eventually building communities amongst nature. Although the bigotry Wood Elves once faced has died down considerably, they are still very distrustful of both Humans and High Elves. The majority are isolationist in nature, preferring to keep to their own territory. Although fierce defenders of their homes, Wood Elves prefer to avoid conflict when possible, and while not outwardly friendly to outsiders, they will only chase off those they view as posing a threat.

Scroll of Wood Elves II

Scroll of Wood Elves II

Wood Elves believe strongly that nature has a balance that needs to be respected. They do not build permanent structures if it can be avoided, and are mindful never to take from nature more than it can easily replenish. Most wood elf homes are some form of tent, or natural geographically feature like a cave. They believe that nature is chaos, and that there is beauty in that chaos. To force that chaos into order through constructing permanent structures is to impose your will upon nature itself. While other cultures build monuments meant to stand the test of time, Wood Elves pride themselves in leaving as faint a trace of their existence behind as possible.
