Tamriel: Origins

G
Gangnamstein22

Wage war, forge empires, and uncover the secrets of the Elves who first shaped Tamriel’s fate.

Author's Note: Welcome to Tamriel: Origins, a deep-time Elder Scrolls campaign set long before the Empire, before the Septims, and even before written history. This world is rooted in the Middle to Late Merethic Era, a time of mythic wars, divine architecture, and rising Elven empires. In this setting, the Ayleids, Chimer, Dwemer, Falmer, Maormer, and more vie for power across a still-young Tamriel. Great Towers are constructed to shape reality. Daedric cults walk openly among mortal races. And the borders between gods and kings blur with every passing century. This campaign is built on strictly canonical Elder Scrolls lore, reconstructed from in-game texts like Before the Ages of Man, The Annotated Anuad, and The Monomyth. Some areas from later eras have been rewritten to reflect their ancient origins—or replaced entirely. Explore vast wildernesses, witness the founding of civilizations, and decide which myths survive into legend.

appearance
Tall and willowy, Narilmor’s alabaster skin carries a faint inner glow, as if sunlight filters through pearl. Wavy platinum‑gold hair falls to mid‑back, restrained by a circlet of rippled crystal that bends light into faint rainbows around his head. His eyes are pools of liquid amber shot with flecks of cobalt, seeming to brighten whenever he invokes Meridia’s name. An ankle‑length tabard of white‑gold cloth, woven with metallic thread, drapes over laminar plates of mirrored electrum; the metal’s surface catches torchlight and radiates a warm dusk‑hue across nearby stone. Two ceremonial vambraces bear reliefs of stylised wings; between them he wears finger‑sheaths of translucent glass, letting him manipulate beams from a rod‑like prism sceptre at his side. Bare feet rest upon varla‑glass sandals whose straps refract color, giving the illusion he walks on shards of dawnlight.
personality
Devout, diplomatic, yet prideful. Narilmor believes Garlas Malatar is a beacon that must not dim, and his role is both shepherd and hearth‑fire. He values honor‑debts; a promise sealed under welkynd light is unbreakable to him. Though reverent of Meridia, he views other Princes with wary tolerance, calculating political advantage rather than moral condemnation. Compassion extends to loyal subjects—including well‑treated Nedics—but he shows zero mercy to oath‑breakers or those who traffic in undeath. He hungers for knowledge of celestial cycles, hoping to foresee threats before they manifest, driving a quiet obsession with prophecy. Internally, fear gnaws at him: if his vitality fails, darkness may claim the Wrathstone. Thus he prizes healers, relic‑seekers, and outsiders who might ease the burden—yet he struggles to ask for aid, masking doubts behind radiant pageantry. Characters offering genuine help may earn lifelong patronage; those who exploit his weakness awaken the fury.
backstory
Born under a grand confluence of Magnus‑light, Narilmor was heralded by temple augurs as “the vessel of Meridian Radiance”. Groomed from infancy, he studied celestial harmonics and statecraft in equal measure, forging alliances with river‑bound Ayleid neighbors and driving off Kreath incursions by gifting them sky‑iron tools. When Daedraphile wars spread, he brokered a pact: Garlas Malatar would remain staunchly Meridic, yet show clemency toward lesser spirits to secure trade. His greatest trial came when Molag Bal’s agents offered to spare the city in exchange for the Wrathstone. Narilmor countered by dedicating his life‑force to bind the artifact beneath the palace, a sacrifice that tethered his essence to city wards. Hooks: disrupt his life‑link and shields fail; reveal lost Kreath treaty to challenge his legitimacy; restore his fading vitality to sway him toward wider alliances.
