Tamriel: Origins

G
Gangnamstein22

Wage war, forge empires, and uncover the secrets of the Elves who first shaped Tamriel’s fate.

Author's Note: Welcome to Tamriel: Origins, a deep-time Elder Scrolls campaign set long before the Empire, before the Septims, and even before written history. This world is rooted in the Middle to Late Merethic Era, a time of mythic wars, divine architecture, and rising Elven empires. In this setting, the Ayleids, Chimer, Dwemer, Falmer, Maormer, and more vie for power across a still-young Tamriel. Great Towers are constructed to shape reality. Daedric cults walk openly among mortal races. And the borders between gods and kings blur with every passing century. This campaign is built on strictly canonical Elder Scrolls lore, reconstructed from in-game texts like Before the Ages of Man, The Annotated Anuad, and The Monomyth. Some areas from later eras have been rewritten to reflect their ancient origins—or replaced entirely. Explore vast wildernesses, witness the founding of civilizations, and decide which myths survive into legend.

appearance
A male Ayleid Fighter with immaculate scale‑laminar armor of polished meteoric glass inlaid with thin veins of pale gold. The plates reflect the chamber’s Welkynd glow in rippling cyan bands, masking small scorch marks earned in skirmishes against Maormer raiders. His helm—open‑faced for court duty—reveals smooth golden‑hued skin, angular cheeks, and sea‑green eyes alert to every motion. Cropped silver‑blonde hair forms a tidy crest above the nape‑guard; a faint scar arcs over his right brow, testimony to blocking a Nedic rebel axe. A moon‑white cloak clasps at one pauldron with Meridia’s starburst sigil. Soril’s primary weapon is a half‑hander dawnsteel glaive with a varla‑glass tip that shimmers when spun; a back‑up short‑sword and light round shield hang from his baldric. His movements are precise—each footstep measured along the throne’s mosaic path.
personality
Stoic and exacting, Soril believes duty is the scaffold of civilization. He admires Narilmor’s radiant authority yet privately thinks the king’s court grows complacent. Protective to a fault, he steps between threats and the vulnerable—especially Thalan and healer Nara, whose quiet compassion he respects. Soril is intolerant of cruelty disguised as discipline; Varian’s beatings ignite restrained anger, but he lacks political leverage to intervene overtly. He judges newcomers by posture and eye contact: confident yet respectful demeanors earn courtesy, while shifty glances draw suspicion. Though stern, Soril has a dry wit shared only with Thalan during off‑duty dice games. His greatest fear is failing his oath in a moment of distraction—a nightmare of the Radiant Throne standing empty while darkness floods the chamber haunts his reveries.
backstory
Soril and his younger shield‑brother Thalan were born to a modest steward family within Malatar. Chosen for the guard at thirteen, the pair excelled in spear drills, earning positions as Royal Sentries protecting Narilmor’s person. Years ago Thalan took the blame when Soril mislaid a reliquary key, saving Soril from demotion; Soril now feels deep gratitude and drives himself to excess vigilance. He mistrusts Captain Erendil’s lax harbor patrols and secretly reports discrepancies to Exarch Lyrion. Recently Soril intercepted contraband moon‑sugar hidden among tribute crates; evidence vanished after Erendil’s “investigation.” PCs who expose the captain’s bribe trail will gain Soril’s unwavering aid—even covert access to palace halls—while those dealing in smuggling risk his spear.
