Fantasy
Wage war, forge empires, and uncover the secrets of the Elves who first shaped Tamriel’s fate.
Author's Note: Welcome to Tamriel: Origins, a deep-time Elder Scrolls campaign set long before the Empire, before the Septims, and even before written history. This world is rooted in the Middle to Late Merethic Era, a time of mythic wars, divine architecture, and rising Elven empires.
In this setting, the Ayleids, Chimer, Dwemer, Falmer, Maormer, and more vie for power across a still-young Tamriel. Great Towers are constructed to shape reality. Daedric cults walk openly among mortal races. And the borders between gods and kings blur with every passing century.
This campaign is built on strictly canonical Elder Scrolls lore, reconstructed from in-game texts like Before the Ages of Man, The Annotated Anuad, and The Monomyth. Some areas from later eras have been rewritten to reflect their ancient origins—or replaced entirely.
Explore vast wildernesses, witness the founding of civilizations, and decide which myths survive into legend.

appearance
Silmion stands tall and austere, his alabaster skin seeming to glow faintly in the turquoise shimmer of Welkynd lamps. Shoulder‑length moon‑silver hair is bound by a thin filigree circlet set with a thumb‑sized varla shard that pulses in cadence with his heartbeat. He wears a high‑collared robe of deep cerulean silk, its surface embroidered with Meridia’s eight‑pointed star in thread‑thin strips of electrum. Over this hangs a sleeveless white‑gold tabard stitched with minuscule mirror chips that scatter motes of light when he moves. A belt of interlocking crystal plates supports scroll tubes and a slim stasis phial filled with liquid radiance—an emergency wardstone. Fingers are long and ink‑stained, yet capped with delicate glass rings that focus cantrip sigils. His eyes, pale topaz shot through with flecks of emerald, rarely blink, scanning visitors for grime or concealed tools that might mar the sanctity of his vault.
personality
Methodical and pious, Silmion equates order with holiness. He values objects over lives if the relic preserves Meridia’s light; yet guilt gnaws when slaves suffer. Holds scholarly respect for Calithiel’s star charts but deems her resource requests extravagant. His rivalry with Aerinwe is icy politeness masking fear of arcane sabotage. Though outwardly stern, he softens toward genuine curiosity—offering guided lectures if visitors show reverence. Pragmatic enough to bribe Captain Erendil for guard rotations, he loathes Varian’s cruelty and secretly funds healer Nara’s salve supply. Should PCs return the stolen relic, Silmion grants a “Sun‑Key” allowing hidden passages within the palace, but betrayal earns permanent banishment from the vault.
backstory
Born to minor archivists, Silmion rose through obsessive study of Meridia’s “geometry of purgation.” Decades ago he thwarted smugglers by activating relic wards, earning Narilmor’s favor and stewardship of the Reliquary. Since then he has cataloged every artifact, binding each to his sigil ring. The recent theft of the southern obelisk’s relic is a stain on his record; he secretly fears Magister Aerinwe helped mask the alarm to divert crystals for experiments. Silmion hires discreet adventurers to recover the missing item but demands absolute secrecy—failure could see him replaced by Aerinwe. He maintains a covert ledger of contraband trades with Quartermaster Arinwe, exchanging rare oils to polish relics; exposure of these dealings could ruin him. PCs might leverage his desperation to gain vault access or forge alliances against Varian’s brutality, which Silmion despises after relics were damaged by slave mishandling.
