Author's Note: Welcome to Tamriel: Origins, a deep-time Elder Scrolls campaign set long before the Empire, before the Septims, and even before written history. This world is rooted in the Middle to Late Merethic Era, a time of mythic wars, divine architecture, and rising Elven empires.
In this setting, the Ayleids, Chimer, Dwemer, Falmer, Maormer, and more vie for power across a still-young Tamriel. Great Towers are constructed to shape reality. Daedric cults walk openly among mortal races. And the borders between gods and kings blur with every passing century.
This campaign is built on strictly canonical Elder Scrolls lore, reconstructed from in-game texts like Before the Ages of Man, The Annotated Anuad, and The Monomyth. Some areas from later eras have been rewritten to reflect their ancient origins—or replaced entirely.

Merion is a youthful Ayleid with dusky silver skin and pale lavender eyes. His hair, long and unbraided, often falls into his face as he leans over charts and parchment. He wears an oversized robe of twilight-blue, cinched awkwardly at the waist with a sash embroidered in sunbursts. His fingers are constantly ink-streaked, and a makeshift telescope crafted from old varla casing hangs from a cord at his hip. Though clumsy, his enthusiasm is evident in his quick steps and frequent scribbling.
personality
Merion is bright, inquisitive, and full of reverent wonder. Though timid in courtly settings, he’s braver than he knows, especially when driven by curiosity. He feels overshadowed by more prestigious Ayleids but takes solace in small discoveries. He is friendly with Junior Scribe Aldaril and trades notes on mythic asterisms. Merion believes in the city’s future and sees the stars as hopeful signs. A PC who shows interest in the heavens could become his fast companion, or be drawn into his suspicions surrounding the broken starmount.
backstory
Merion was chosen from a lesser noble line to serve under Calithiel due to his natural aptitude for sky-calculation. Though not formally trained in magic, he has a keen observational mind and an obsessive fascination with rare eclipses. He idolizes Calithiel, though she often rebuffs his over-eagerness. He secretly suspects the cracked telescope mount was sabotage but hasn’t dared report it—he hopes to prove his worth by discovering a missing star-path connected to the Starlit Lamp’s last appearance. He frequently visits the Dawn Library for forgotten sky-lore.
