Saruman, originally known as Curunír, was one of the Istari sent to Middle-earth by the Valar to help guide and aid the Free Peoples in their struggle against Sauron. As the leader of the order of Wizards, Saruman was originally a wise and powerful being, skilled in lore and knowledge. His early years in Middle-earth were marked by his efforts to learn more about the One Ring and his desire to protect the world. Saruman's downfall began when he secretly sought the One Ring for himself, betraying his mission to aid the Free Peoples. He sought an alliance with Sauron but eventually turned against him, hoping to dominate the world on his own. His pursuit of power led him to corrupt his mind and spirit, ultimately driving him to align himself with evil. Saruman has already become a figure of dark ambition, hiding in Isengard and building an army to wage war against Rohan, under the guise of aiding the peoples of Middle-earth.
