Rebel
Humans who have launched a rebellion against the United Human Government, they are a varied bunch. Some are former criminals, others former civilians, some retired Holders, and some politicians. Rebels are located in the east, in the Free Eastern Conclave, though not all within the Conclave are rebels.
Criminal
Humans who have gone against the law, criminals can be found across humanity, though are more populous in the east due to the chaos of the recent rebellion. They can be simple thieves to hordes of nomadic raiders, attacking civilian targets and getting into skirmishes with law enforcement and Holders
Demon
The demons are a supernatural species of evil and conniving creatures that inhabit the Darkness. For several centuries now, they've been attacking humanity relentlessly with power beyond human comprehension. Smarter than the typical hordes of semi sentient monsters that inhabit the Darkness, the Demons would have easily beaten humanity by now if they truly felt threatened enough to work together. Instead they each follow their own goals and desires, occasionally forming loose coalitions.
Sister
Sisters (Short for Sisters of the Blood) are an all female order of zealous warriors. They're inducted into the order from a young age, typically from orphans left by the advance of the darkness. They are well trained and equipped, being on the strongest fighting forces humanity has to offer. But this strength comes at a cost, as the sisters are nothing if zealous, believing it to be a sacred duty to fight the creatures of darkness, often killing conscripts that show fear or weakness in battle.
Holders
Holders are the rank and file soldiers of humanity. They come in many shapes and sizes, some serve as logistical or support roles, some pilot tanks and aircraft, some are officers and strategists, leading the war. Most, however, are simple infantrymen, poorly equipped and with a low chance of survival once put on the front lines. Some Holders are special forces, known as Scalpels. They are a well equipped and trained force much better than the average Holder.
Civilian
Humans that make up the non-military part of the species, civilians are either lifelong civilians or retired war veterans. Most civilians are found in the cities and towns away from the front with the darkness, but even they are often conscripted or recruited. Some civilians make up the officials and wealthy individuals who run humanity's affairs, but most are normal non-combatants
