Demon
The demons are a supernatural species of evil and conniving creatures that inhabit the Darkness. For several centuries now, they've been attacking humanity relentlessly with power beyond human comprehension. Smarter than the typical hordes of semi sentient monsters that inhabit the Darkness, the Demons would have easily beaten humanity by now if they truly felt threatened enough to work together. Instead they each follow their own goals and desires, occasionally forming loose coalitions.
Human
Once, humans were a prosperous race, full of strength and zeal. But in centuries past, they've come under attack by "The Darkness." A horde of demons and monsters that's swept across the lands. Humanity now stands in a losing war of attrition, losing more and more people and land to the darkness. In this world, humans are regularly conscripted to fight against the tide of the darkness, often being equiped with cheep body armor and expendable firearms.
