In Aeturnum, every soul dies before it is born. Life is not a beginning, but a return. People are born carrying the weight of a previous death — a complete, forgotten life that occurred in the metaphysical "First Realm."

The Forgotten
The Forgotten are a rare, cursed race erased from the Cycle and re-formed as unstable anomalies whose shadowed, shifting forms cause memory static in others. Unable to die normally, they reset or return warped, serving as wandering prophets, cursed pilgrims, and vaultbreakers, always watched or hunted by the Cyclekeepers.

Prismari
Crystal-born beings from Karmir's shaped by the Veil Prism's light, the Prismari possess crystal-veined skin and multifaceted eyes that shift hue with emotion. They involuntarily perceive and mirror others' inner feelings, serving as oracle-keepers and truth-bearers, fragile in body but resistant to soul corruption, often traveling with Prism Wardens or isolating themselves to avoid echo distortion.

Veyrunari
The Veyrunari are volcanic-forged beings from Kessereth, born from ash and grief rather than the natural Cycle, with ember-glow skin beneath a basalt crust and candleflame eyes. Immune to fire and able to absorb sorrow to heal, they burn slowly through their emotional lifespan, dying when they forget joy, serving as guardians of grief rituals, ash-judges, and feared fire-dreamers who burn away lies.

Drownsworn
The Drownsworn are aquatic beings with iridescent blue-grey skin marked by ink-vein patterns and deep black eyes, dwelling in the depths around Inverthy and Karmair. They exhale vaporous memory plumes when speaking powerful truths and can breathe memory into objects or water to create sacred "inked oaths," serving as inkscribes, tide-seers, and soul-prison wardens, often tied to the enigmatic Submerged Order.

Skaythari
Vine-bound aerial beings from Aqualar, grown from the blossoms of the Singing Root, Skaythari bloom from emotion-fed cocoons rather than birth. They possess vine-like tendrils for hair, a semi-floating gait, and floral bioluminescence, with voices that ripple true emotions and the power to harmonize emotional fields to calm, empower, or disrupt others, serving as serene peace-weavers, dream-poets, and emotional diplomats.

Mireling
Semi-amphibious beings born from swamp peat-pools, their translucent moss-touched skin and bioluminescent eyes reflect their deep connection to the sorrowful mists of Vlmedor. They possess the unique ability to "taste" truth through touch, communicate through scent and vibration, and serve as ritualists, sorrow-harvesters, and seers within their mist-shrouded homeland.

Ashenai
The Ashenai are a race born from the residue of powerful, broken, or unique lives that never reentered the Cycle, manifesting as beings of ash, crystal, and sorrow with pale, smoke-glass skin marked by glowing fracture-lines. They manipulate residual grief through emotional alchemy, do not age but risk losing emotional stability without grounding rituals, and often serve as smiths, flamekeepers, and memory guardians near Kessereth and Skalenar, revered or feared as vessels of forgotten pain.

Echoen (human)
Echoen are reborn souls shaped by the emotional echoes of their past deaths, appearing human with unique birthmarks, glowing hair, or shadow-mirroring traits. They can resonate with places or people to trigger memory fragments and are highly adaptable, with subtypes including Hollowborn (no memories), Reclaimed (partial recall), and Converged (near-complete memory integration).
