Bow

The Bow is a naturally fast weapon. Back until the 4th Generation, a common tactic for Bow is to "hit and run." But from the 5th Generation onward, Bow is now a fast, high mobility weapon that relies on a consecutive attack. Also, using the Bow requires the knowledge of the monsters' weak spots and elemental weaknesses to end the hunt faster.

Heavy Bowgun

The Heavy Bowgun is the ranged weapon of choice for those who wish to have as much firepower as they can, while still maintaining some distance. While much slower than their Light Bowgun cousins, they are the only ranged weapon that allows a shield to be attached, giving them guard capabilities. For an experienced gunner, this is more of a restraint since you can only attach a power barrel OR a shield.

Light Blowgun

Light Blowgun

The Light Bowgun is more elemental than its counterpart, the Heavy Bowgun. Heavy Bowgun is usually used as a "Main Gunner", while the Light Bowgun is a supporter. With light bowguns you can fire a plethora of elemental damage such as Thunder, Ice, and Water.

The Hammer weapon class is a fairly common weapon type able to be used by players since the first Monster Hunter game. Staunch and resilient, the hammer is perhaps the first representative weapon-of-choice to dictate pure, unadulterated damage directly to the target.

Having moderately high attack power combined with mobility means having some drawbacks, however. Since its departure from the Great Sword family, the Long Sword has no ability to guard against attacks by any means, aside from the standard dodge rolls.
