Beneath the glowing neon skyline of the Corporate Spire District, past the smog-choked factories of the Industrial Sector, lies the Undercity—a sprawling subterranean labyrinth of abandoned metro tunnels, forgotten infrastructure, and makeshift communities. Once part of Chicago’s ambitious underground expansion projects, the area was sealed off and decommissioned when the city moved toward full automation. Now, it is home to those the corporations have cast aside—displaced workers, rogue AI engineers, black-market traders, and resistance cells plotting against the elite above. The deeper one travels, the less human the Undercity becomes. Mutated industrial runoff, failed AI experiments, and rogue security drones prowl the depths, guarding classified facilities that were never meant to be rediscovered. In the Undercity, secrets are buried in the dark, and those who dig too deep may never return.
