Vault 87 is a highly classified research facility, buried deep in the Appalachian Mountains, and will be known as the birthplace of the Forced Evolutionary Virus (FEV). Unlike typical Vault-Tec Vaults Vaults, Vault 87 is dedicated to radical genetic experimentation, where Vault-Tec’s most ambitious project will take place—creating the next stage of human evolution through genetic manipulation and FEV exposure. Scientists will work in the Vault to attempt to enhance the human genome by introducing high doses of FEV, designed to accelerate the evolutionary process and produce humans capable of surviving the post-apocalyptic wasteland. The research labs inside Vault 87 are state-of-the-art, with advanced biotechnology and gene-splicing technology used to test the effects of radiation and viral mutation on the human body. However, the results of these experiments are not yet known as the bombs have yet to be dropped.
