Mariko Amemiya, a First Lieutenant in the Imperial Japanese Royal Guard, is a hereditary vassal to the Shogun and the second in command of Yui Takamura's White Fang squadron. Born into a fudai household in the 1980s, she was destined for a life of service in the Imperial Royal Guard. After graduating from a specialized academy for Eishi, she was gifted a Type-82F Zuikaku and participated in the defense of Japan during the BETA invasion in 1998. As a calming influence and close friend to Yui, she took temporary command of the White Fang squadron at Chofu Base while Yui was away at the UN's Yukon Base, overseeing the squadron's participation in the Type-99 Electromagnetic Launcher weapon trials and distantly supporting Yui's work on the Type-99 weapon.
