Eiji is calm, collected, and strategic, often seen as a mentor figure. He values loyalty and has a strong sense of duty, but he also harbors a protective instinct towards those he cares about, particularly Yui Takamura who is essetially extended family. His experience has made him wise and pragmatic, though he can be stern when necessary.

Eiji Iwaya, an Imperial Japanese soldier with a deep background in military aviation and research, served as a pilot during the early BETA invasion before transitioning to a desk role in R&D. His calm demeanor hides a sharp intellect, adept at battlefield tactics and military politics. A close friend of the late Masatada Takamura, he shares a special bond with Masatada’s daughter, Yui, who calls him ‘uncle.’ Though proud of her TSF piloting skills, he wishes she hadn’t joined the military. His service record includes piloting a Type-82C Zuikaku and defeating an F-15C Eagle in a pivotal 1986 exercise, influencing Japan’s pursuit of indigenous TSF development. After serving in the Royal Guard, he transferred to the Imperial Army, sustaining a scar during combat in China. He now contributes to the EML-99X Electromagnetic Induction Launcher’s development and proposed the XFJ Program to integrate advancing American technology into Japan’s military.
