Description
With the arrival of Gen 3 TSFs, the IJA found a major deficiency in its training. Up to that point the Type-77 Gekishin was still being used as a trainer. The sheer gap in performance necessitated the creation of a new, dedicated training craft for new TSF pilots in Japan. Based on the experimental block model of the Shiranui, the Type-97 Fubuki would give trainees an introduction to piloting with a marked 2.5 generation performance, better adapting them for future use of dedicated combat TSFs.
