Description
The Hornet is a carrier-based 2nd-Gen TSF developed to replace the costly F-14 Tomcat, following the US Navy's Navy Air Combat Fighter (NACF) program. The goal was to make a TSF with the performance ability of the F-15, but with the lower operational cost of the F-16. The trade off was close, performing marginally worse than the Eagle but costing less than even the Falcon, this made it popular for export to other countries such as Australia and Nepal. It saw first deployment in 1987.
