Beast Tyrant
Melee

Beast Tyrant

The Beast Tyrant is a very unique class; it is known by the name "two-mini" due to its unique nature. Its character figure is the Tyrant, but it has a unique second figure which is its tamed Bear summon that starts the scenario adjacent to you. While the Tyrant acts normally by playing ability cards, your Bear automatically performs a "Move 3, Attack 2" action immediately before your turn, following standard summon rules. In addition to that, the Bear can by forced to act according to your order

Elementalist
Melee

Elementalist

The Elementalist, as you'd expect, is largely focused on elements. Their main method of using them is in large area attacks. They have several losses that give him access to multiple elements as well, allowing them to set up future turns. In general, the turn-to-turn playstyle of the Elementalist is that of a combo character; on each turn you not only set up the next turn's elements but payoff the prior turn's elements.

Sawbone
Melee

Sawbone

The Sawbones is a mix of two different playstyles: Support and Crowd Control. When one looks at Sawbones, the first build evident is the support build, because of his unique Medical Pack mechanic, which allows him to gift other players temporary cards which can be used once for either basic actions or Heal actions, plus the plethora of other healing options.

Doomstalker
Melee

Doomstalker

The Doomstalker is a bit of an oddity as far as mechanics go. His primary role is that of a single-target attacker, supported by his primary mechanic of "Dooms"; persistent effects that target a single enemy and debuff them or buff attacks targeting them

Soothsinger
Melee

Soothsinger

The Soothsinger is the ultimate support class. Her signature mechanic is "Songs", of which she can be playing only one at any single point in time. They work similarly to the Mindthief augments, except that rather than modifying your attacks, they modify various allies' abilities or grant other strong global effects. These work regardless of range or line of sight, meaning a Soothsinger doesn't have to be anywhere near allies for them to benefit from this.

Berserker
Melee

Berserker

The Berserker is a damage dealer with a splash of tanking. That said, her incredible power comes at a major cost: She burns herself out... with a somewhat literal type of burn. Her abilities mostly fit in to two categories: "Self-harm" and "Low-health matters". The former are abilities where you pay health in order to gain benefits.

Plagueherald
Melee

Plagueherald

The Plagueherald is an interestingly divided class. It has two very clear themes: Poison, and Curse. However, where most classes are interwoven, the Plagueherald's Poison cards rarely work particularly well for the Curse build, and the Curse cards rarely work well for the Poison build. This results in an odd class where often your future level up choices are more or less decided soon after level 1. However, both builds are quite effective and strong.

Nightshroud
Melee

Nightshroud

One of the two strongest classes in Gloomhaven to an incredible degree, the Nightshroud excels at eliminating single targets. His metaphorical spear is his executes, allowing him to instantly kill most targets regardless of their health or the scenario difficulty. His metaphorical shield is his invisibility, which combined with clever initiative manipulation, allows the Nightshroud to remain untouchable for almost the entire scenario.

Summoner
Melee

Summoner

The Summoner, as you might guess... is a summoner. That's her whole schtick: Summoning and controlling those summons. Often times, she will use elements to boost the effectiveness of her actions, with the class using every element save Light and Ice.

Quartermaster
Melee

Quartermaster

The Quartermaster is one of the strongest class in the game, to the degree where many consider it gamebreaking. It does this via a focus on items, often making single-use consumed items used many many times per scenarios with its abilities and modifier cards, as well as Reinforced Steel's ability to refresh spent items every single turn. Combined with the stronger items in the game, and it turns an already strong class into an incredible powerhouse.

Sunkeeper
Melee

Sunkeeper

The Sunkeeper is the tank of Gloomhaven. While many other classes can tank effectively, Sunkeeper can absorb massive amounts of damage. This is due to a single enhancement option: Adding +1 Shield to her passive Shield seen on Defensive Stance. With that enhancement, the Sunkeeper is able to survive incredible amounts of damage, becoming incredibly strong, especially at lower levels before the enemy attacks get stronger.

Diviner
Melee

Diviner

Caught between the endless voids for thousands of years, a small group of Aesthers developed a curiosity for other dimensions. For them, visiting as many realities as possible became an addictive passion. Through careful study, patterns began to emerge in their observations over time. Realities no longer presented themselves as chaotic inconsistencies, but rather as structured strands of cause and effect.

Cragheart
Melee

Cragheart

The Cragheart is a jack-of-all-trades focused around the element of Earth. Capable of operating both in melee and range, as well as using support actions and crowd control, there is very little a Cragheart can't do. This flexibility can sometimes overwhelm newer players, but the truth is it's hard to go wrong with the Cragheart.

Mindthief
Melee

Mindthief

The Mindthief has a complex set of mechanics that lead to a multifaceted roles. The Mindthief's primary roles is damage dealing, with a major secondary role of crowd control. She achieves this through the use of ranged debuffs such as stuns, disarms, and immobilizes, plus high single target damage thanks to her main augment: The Mind's Weakness.

Tinkerer
Melee

Tinkerer

The Tinkerer is primarily a support character based around healing. This often leads to him being weaker in smaller parties or when paired with lower health allies. However, to make up for that deficiency, the Tinkerer receives a 12 card hand size, allowing him to freely play large area attacks, often paired with crowd control effects such as immobilize, muddle, or stun.

Spellweaver
Melee

Spellweaver

The Spellweaver is mainly focused on dealing damage to multiple enemies through the use of the element system. She primarily focuses on fire and ice, with a significant number of earth and wind element cards. While present, dark and light are relegated to a tirtiary theme.

Brute
Melee

Brute

The Brute is mainly focused on melee attacks and mitigating damage through Shield abilities. He has a major mechanical theme based on "movement-matters". Minor themes include wind element use.

Scoundrel
Melee

Scoundrel

The Scoundrel is a fairly simple class with a single core mechanical theme which is "flanking", in which the class gains benefits when targeting enemies that the Scoundrel's allies are also adjacent to. With this, a Scoundrel can do extremely high damage through teamwork.
