Lyra Gontar is a scientist and researcher who has been studying tibanna gas for years. She has recently arrived on Bespin under the pretext of researching new applications for the gas beyond its current uses in weapons and hyperdrive systems. Lyra's interest in tibanna extends to its molecular properties and its potential role in energy production. Though she is not officially part of the Cloud City Authority, her research is backed by the Republic’s interest in finding non-military uses for tibanna. She is curious, inventive, and not afraid to push the boundaries of her work, though this often brings her into conflict with the more traditional officials overseeing the extraction.
