One Cardinal of the Church, Aelfric, serves as a bridge between Abyss and the world above and desires to help them as best as he can. Among its denizens are several Academy-age individuals, some of whom are former Officers Academy students. At Aelfric's insistence, a fourth house, the Ashen Wolves, resides in Abyss, with no formal or official recognition by the Officers Academy.

Duscur is rumored to be rich in valuable minerals and was historically home to many scattered towns, each specializing in a particular trade. The elevation of House Kleiman to a viscountcy over Duscur was a direct consequence of the Tragedy of Duscur in 1176. During a diplomatic trip to Duscur, the Faerghus royal family and the scion of House Fraldarius, Glenn, were attacked in their carriages. Nearly everyone was killed in the incident, with the sole known survivor being Dimitri. In the aftermath, the Kingdom annexed the Duscur peninsula, which became the region now governed by House Kleiman.

It is whispered among the locals that the village, which would burgeon into the region known as Kupala, was founded by Chevalier, one of the Four Apostles and a devoted follower of the heroine Seiros. The inhabitants of Kupala have cultivated a distinct cultural identity, shaped by their mountainous surroundings and relative isolation. This seclusion has fostered a sense of resilience and self-reliance among the populace. Notably, the region is renowned for its unique medicinal practices. A traditional remedy, colloquially termed the "Secret Medicine," has been passed down through generations.

The etymology of "Morfis" likely traces back to Morpheus, the deity of dreams in classical mythology, or perhaps to the druid Morfesa, known for imparting magical wisdom to the Tuatha De Danann in ancient lore.

House Nuvelle is a noble family from the Adrestian Empire, located in the far west of the Empire. The Viscounty of Nuvelle encompasses the westernmost coast, adjacent to the Brionac Plateau and Ochs. The territory features a harbor city, also called Nuvelle. Unlike other noble houses, House Nuvelle was secretive about their Crest. The head of House Nuvelle is Constance von Nuvelle, who is the sole survivor of her family after it fell during the Dagda and Brigid War. The Nuvelle family was ostracized by other noble houses due to their support for the emperor in the Insurrection of the Seven. During Adrestia's war with Dagda and Brigid, House Nuvelle was used as a sacrifice against the attacking forces, and all members of the family except Constance died in battle.

Baron Ochs is a noble from the Adrestian Empire and the father of Monica von Ochs, a student at the Officers Academy. He is the head of House Ochs, a minor noble family of unknown status within the Empire. In Imperial Year 1175, during the Dagda and Brigid War, House Ochs was attacked by the combined forces of Dagda and Brigid, leading to the disappearance of both Baron Ochs and his daughter, Monica. In 1180, Baron Ochs reappears in Enbarr, attempting to escape with the Hero's Relic Vajra-Mushti, which he had stolen from the monastery.

Count Ordelia extended support to this defection, a move that, upon the rebellion's suppression by Imperial forces, invited severe repercussions. The Empire imposed measures upon House Ordelia, including the installation of Adrestian officials within the county's governance. Among these officials were clandestine operatives of the faction known as "those who slither in the dark." Their insidious presence led to inhumane experiments on the county's youth, notably subjecting Lysithea von Ordelia, the Count's eldest daughter, to harrowing trials that bestowed upon her dual Crests—a rare and perilous condition.

The origins of the Leicester Alliance trace back to Imperial Year 801, when the region, then under the dominion of the Adrestian Empire, sought autonomy. This initial bid for independence was met with resistance, leading to the region's annexation by the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus. However, the spirit of self-governance persisted, culminating in a successful revolt against Faerghus in Imperial Year 881. This victory paved the way for the formal establishment of the Leicester Alliance in Imperial Year 901. The Alliance is governed by a council of noble houses—Riegan, Gloucester, Goneril, Ordelia, and Daphnel.

The Officer's Academy

The Officer’s Academy is an institution established in the Garreg Mach Monastery, located in the center of Fódlan. Its primary purpose is to train students in a variety of fields, focusing especially on military tactics, leadership and the use of weapons and magic. Founded to ensure the future stability and security of Fódlan, the academy is a vital institution supported by the Church, emphasizing the importance of unity among Fodlan's future rulers. The academy is divided into three main houses, each representing one of the major factions in Fódlan. The Black Eagles house students from the noble Families of the Adrestian Empire, as well as the princess of Brigid and are lead by Edelgard von Hresvelg, the future Emporess, The Blue Lions are lead by crown prince Dimitri von Bladdyd and populated by the noble heirs of Faerghus and the Golden Deer have students from the major Families of the Leicester Alliance, as well their future Leader, Claude von Riegan.

Varley County

Varley County

The County of Varley, situated in the central Adrestian Empire, is governed by House Varley. This region lies just south of Garreg Mach Monastery and the Oghma Mountains, adjacent to the County of Bergliez. Notably, Varley is an unusually arid area compared to the rest of the Empire, and it produces armor and weapons using resources extracted from the mountains. The head of House Varley is Count Grégoire, who also serves as the Minister of Religious Affairs in the Empire. He is the father of Bernadetta von Varley, a student at the Officers Academy. Count Varley is known for his authoritarian and abusive nature, particularly towards his daughter. After Edelgard ascends to the throne, Count Varley is placed under house arrest.

the Western Church is a religious organization that emerged as an offshoot of the Church of Seiros. Its headquarters are situated on the border between the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus and the Adrestian Empire. Originally, the Western Church served as a regional branch overseeing western Fódlan. Over time, however, it diverged in beliefs and practices, establishing itself as a separate denomination. The Western Church's schism with the central Church of Seiros is rooted in theological differences and disputes over the worship of the goddess. This division has led to tensions and conflicts within Fódlan, influencing the political and religious landscape of the continent.

Zanado

Zanado

Zanado, known as the Red Canyon, is a significant location within the Oghma Mountains of central Fódlan, near Garreg Mach Monastery. Over a millennium ago, it was the home of the "Children of the Goddess" and the Goddess herself, forming part of an ancient civilization. This civilization was destroyed by Nemesis in an act of genocide, leaving only a few survivors. The moniker "Red Canyon" refers to the massacre and the bloodshed that occurred there. In the present day, Zanado is accessible to the public, with the ruins of the ancient civilization open for exploration. The area is known for its unique flora, including the Zanado Fruit, which can be cultivated in the monastery's greenhouse. This fruit is used in cooking and is associated with the region's history.
