Gnome
Though small in stature, the gnomes of Khaz Modan have used their great intellect to secure a place in history. Indeed, their subterranean kingdom, Gnomeregan, was once a marvel of steam-driven technology. Even so, due to a massive trogg invasion, the city was lost. Now its builders are vagabonds in the dwarven lands, aiding their allies as best they can.
Dwarf
In ages past, the dwarves cared only for riches taken from the earth's depths. Then records surfaced of a god-like race said to have given the dwarves life... and an enchanted birthright. Driven to learn more, the dwarves devoted themselves to the pursuit of lost artifacts and ancient knowledge. Today dwarven archaeologists are scattered throughout the globe.
Human
Humans are a young race, and thus highly versatile, mastering the arts of combat, craftsmanship, and magic with stunning efficiency. The humans' valor and optimism have led them to build some of the world's greatest kingdoms. In this troubled era, after generations of conflict, humanity seeks to rekindle its former glory and forge a shining new future.
Lightforged Draenei
For untold millennia, the Army of the Light waged war against the Burning Legion throughout the Twisting Nether. The draenei most committed to their long crusade would undergo a ritual to become Lightforged, infusing their bodies with the very essence of the Holy Light. After finally achieving victory on Argus, the Lightforged draenei have undertaken a new mission: protecting Azeroth from rising threats and helping the Alliance push back against Horde aggression.
Highmountain Tauren
Descended from Huln, brave hero of the War of the Ancients, the Highmountain tauren honor the spirits of earth, river, and sky. Though the Legion invaded their lands and sowed seeds of distrust between them, the tribes of Highmountain stand united once more. At long last they are ready to venture beyond their sacred mountain and stand beside their kin from Kalimdor, lending their nobility and strength to the mighty Horde.
Void Elf
Void elves, or ren’dorei, are a race of elves in who harness the power of the Void. Originally blood elves exiled for their Void research, they were transformed by void ethereals and rescued by Alleria Windrunner. They now serve the Alliance, mastering their dark powers to protect Azeroth.
Drogbar
The drogbar are a shamanistic humanoid species, primarily found in the caverns of Highmountain on the Broken Isles and Zaralek Cavern on the Dragon Isles. Once slaves to Deathwing, they now live independently, often clashing with the Highmountain tauren. Their brutish appearance belies their cleverness and shamanistic abilities. The drogbar leader, Dargrul the Underking, notably stole the Hammer of Khaz'goroth, sparking conflict.
Vyrkul
The Vrykul are a race of fearsome, half-giant warriors. Originating from Northrend, they were created by the Titans and later afflicted by the Curse of Flesh, leading to the birth of humans. Known for their seafaring skills and proto-dragon mounts, they once served the Lich King. Vrykul society is brutal, valuing strength and shunning manual labor. They practice unique runic magic and have a deep connection to their Titanic origins.
Naga
The naga are former Highborne night elves transformed into serpentine beings by the Old God N’Zoth after the Great Sundering. Led by Queen Azshara, they dwell in the depths of the ocean, primarily in Nazjatar. Masters of sorcery, they serve various dark forces, including Illidan Stormrage and the Burning Legion. Their society is highly hierarchical, with a strong emphasis on magic and military prowess.
Satyr
Satyrs are demonic beings, originally night elves transformed by the satyr curse, first spread by Xavius, a Highborne sorcerer. They serve the Burning Legion and the Old Gods, often found in Kalimdor. Known for their goat-like lower bodies, claws, and horns, satyrs delight in causing pain and chaos.
Tauren
The Tauren, or Shu’halo, are a large, bovine race in World of Warcraft, residing in Mulgore on Kalimdor. They are known for their deep connection to nature and their shamanistic traditions. Standing between 6.5 to 9 feet tall, they are peaceful and spiritual, living in a tribal society. The Tauren worship the Earthmother and have a rich mythology involving figures like Cenarius. Despite their size and strength, they strive to maintain balance and harmony with the natural world.
Pandaren
The Pandaren are a race of humanoid pandas from Pandaria and the Wandering Isle in World of Warcraft. Known for their love of nature and strong ales, they were once slaves to the mogu but successfully revolted and established their own empire1. Pandaren follow philosophies like Tushui (Alliance) and Huojin (Horde), emphasizing moral certainty and honor.
Forsaken
The Forsaken are a faction of intelligent undead. They broke free from the Lich King’s control during the Third War, led by Sylvanas Windrunner. They took over the ruined kingdom of Lordaeron and joined the Horde. Initially driven by revenge against the Lich King, they later faced internal and external conflicts, including Sylvanas’s controversial actions.
Goblin
Goblins are small, green humanoids from the Isle of Kezan, known for their love of money, explosives, and technology. They are crafty and shrewd, often engaging in commerce and trade. Goblins are typically neutral, selling their services to the highest bidder. The Bilgewater Cartel, led by Trade Prince Gazlowe, is part of the Horde. Goblins are known for their mechanical ingenuity and explosive inventions, making them both valuable allies and dangerous foes.
Nightborne
Isolated behind a protective barrier for 10,000 years, the elves of Suramar grew increasingly dependent upon the arcane magic of the Nightwell. To protect this font of power, the leaders of the Nightborne struck a bargain with the Burning Legion that plunged their kingdom into civil war. After fighting for freedom from their demonic masters, the Nightborne seek allies in the Horde to help them reclaim their place in the world.
Orc
Orcs in hail from Draenor, now Outland. Originally shamanistic, they were corrupted by the demon lord Kil’jaeden, forming a bloodthirsty Horde. Their skin turned green from demonic influence. Led by figures like Thrall, they broke free from demonic control and established a new Horde in Kalimdor. Known for their strength and honor.
Draenei
The Draenei, meaning "Exiled Ones," are a faction of uncorrupted Eredar who fled their homeworld, Argus, to escape the demonic Burning Legion. Led by Prophet Velen, they traveled across the cosmos, eventually settling on Draenor. After the Legion corrupted the orcs, the Draenei were nearly wiped out but escaped to Azeroth, where they joined the Alliance. They are known for their strong connection to the Light and their capital, the Exodar.
Troll
Trolls are an ancient, diverse race known for their height, tusks, and regenerative abilities. Originating from Zandalar, they have various tribes like the Darkspear, Amani, and Gurubashi. Trolls worship the Loa, powerful spirits that influence their culture and magic. The Darkspear trolls, led by Rokhan, are part of the Horde, residing in Durotar. They are fierce warriors and skilled in shadowy magics1
Worgen
Worgen are lupine humanoids, originating from the kingdom of Gilneas. They were transformed by a curse, turning them into wolf-like beings. Initially feral, they learned to control their instincts with the help of night elves. Worgen are part of the Alliance and can be various classes like druids, hunters, and warriors. Their leader is Genn Greymane, and they aim to reclaim their homeland
Night Elf
Night elves, or kaldorei, are an ancient and mystical race, known as “children of the stars,” they were among the first to study magic. Their civilization once spanned ancient Kalimdor but was shattered by the Great Sundering. Night elves are deeply connected to nature and druidism, worshipping the moon goddess Elune. They are led by figures like Tyrande Whisperwind and Malfurion Stormrage, and their capital was Darnassus, located in the World Tree Teldrassil
Blood Elf
Blood Elves, or Sin'dorei, are former high elves who renamed themselves to honor their fallen during the Scourge's siege of Quel'Thalas. They are heavily dependent on magic, suffering withdrawal without it. After the Sunwell's destruction, they turned to demonic fel energies to sate their magical thirst. With the Sunwell restored, they now work to rebuild their homeland and lead the Horde. Blood Elves are known for their striking appearance and magical prowess.
