Aasimar
Aasimar were human-based planetouched, native outsiders that had in their blood some good, otherworldly characteristics. They were often, but not always, descended from celestials and other creatures of pure good alignment, but while predisposed to good alignments, aasimar were by no means always good.
Greater Devil
Greater devils in D&D 5e are Hell's mid-management. Think of them as military officers and elite troops. They're tougher than lesser devils, with some boasting raw power (Horned Devils) and others combining strength with strategy (Ice Devils). Pit Fiends are the top dogs, serving as lieutenants and brutal enforcers for the Archdevils. They're powerful but answer to a higher authority.
Planetar
Powerful angelic leaders who command legions of celestials and defend good-aligned realms.
Infernal
In D&D 5e, the fiery underworld is dominated by devils, lawful evil fiends who crave power and control. Organized in a strict hierarchy, they range from mischievous imps to terrifying Barlgura warriors. These cunning manipulators tempt mortals with bargains, using fire and dark magic to enforce their will as they strive for ultimate power in the infernal Nine Hells.
Demon Lord
Demon lords represent the pinnacle of demonic power. These monstrous entities embody the chaotic evil inherent to the Abyss, a plane of madness and destruction. Each demon lord reigns supreme over a specific layer of the Abyss, shaping it to their will and wielding immense power that makes them the most formidable creatures. Their chaotic nature compels them to constantly scheme for more influence and wreak havoc, presenting a significant threat to the stability of the multiverse.
Yugoloth
These fiendish creatures are a mix of demon and devil, embodying both chaotic and lawful evil. They are cunning strategists who often orchestrate wars between demons and devils (the Blood War).
Derg
Giant slug-like creatures that ooze with acidic slime. They represent the primal side of the Abyss, a constant hunger and decay.
Slaadi
Chaotic amphibian humanoids that can warp reality with their psionic powers. They come in different colors, each with unique abilities and motivations.
Lesser Demon
In Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition, a lesser demon is a weak but chaotic evil fiend originating from the Abyss, a plane of destruction and madness. They represent the most common type of demon encountered by adventurers. Lesser demons are often summoned by more powerful fiends or evil spellcasters to serve as cannon fodder or bolster their forces. They pose a minor threat on their own but can be dangerous in large numbers.
Greater Demon
Greater demons in D&D 5e are terrifying creatures from the chaotic evil plane of the Abyss. Clocking in at a Challenge Rating of 5 or higher, they pose a serious threat to adventurers. Imagine monstrous Barlgura demon lords with four arms or serpentine Nalfeshnee with poisonous bites. Greater demons are unpredictable and crave destruction, making them nearly impossible to reason with. Their chaotic aura is corrupting, and facing them can leave a lasting mark on even the bravest adventurers.
Archdevil
Archdevils in D&D 5e are the big cheese in Hell. Like CEOs of fiery departments, they rule over their own layer of the Nine Hells, with only the ultimate boss, Asmodeus, above them. Each Archdevil is a super powerful fiend with their own schemes and ambitions. They might cooperate with or backstab each other, but they all have one thing in common: absolute power within their own infernal domain.
Solar
The ultimate celestial warriors, radiating immense power and leading the charge against evil.
Archon
Powerful celestial leaders who oversee specific aspects of the Upper Planes.
Lesser Devil
Lesser devils in D&D 5e are like the grunts of the infernal army. They're weak, come in various flavors with specific jobs (scouting, guarding, torturing), and are generally thrown at adventurers as the first wave of enemies. Think of them as the office assistants and security guards of Hell.
Couatl
The Couatl is a good-guy giant winged serpent in D&D 5e. They can shapeshift, cast helpful spells for healing and support, and have natural magical attacks. Their minds are shielded from magic, making them tricky to spy on. While they can fight, they'd rather use smarts and magic to help adventurers on good quests or guard sacred places. If you're doing good stuff, you might get a visit from a Couatl with cryptic advice or a test of your heroism.
Deva
Deva in D&D 5e are lawful good celestial beings who serve as messengers and champions of good on various planes. These beautiful winged humanoids possess the power to transform, wield radiant weapons, and cast spells for support, healing, and divination. Notably, their healing touch can cure wounds, remove curses, and even bring the dead back to life. Deva are more than warriors; they embody lawful good through diplomacy, healing, and bolstering the forces of light against darkness.
Dwarf
Stout and strong, skilled in metalwork and masonry.
Elf
Graceful and wise, with an affinity for nature and magic.
Gnome
Small, curious, and inventive, skilled in arcane arts.
Half-Elf
Sharing characteristics of both humans and elves, versatile and adaptable.
Halfling
Small, nimble and resourceful, able to easily evade danger.
Half-Orc
Brute strength combined with human adaptability.
Human
The most versatile and varied of races, without specific strengths or weaknesses.
Tiefling
Infernal heritage with a natural affinity for dark magics.
Dragonborn
Born of dragons, these creatures are large and in charge, with a breath weapon.
